Timeline of The Tannaim, the Early Rabbis

Podcast Episodes: 3.5 on.

Back to Show Notes Contents.

This is a timeline of the Tannaim, "teachers". These were the earliest rabbis, who lived after the rabbis known as the Zugot, "pairs". The Tannaim worked on the Mishnah, the foundational document of rabbinic Judaism. The solid bars are the broadest dates accepted by scholars. Dashed bars indicate our lack of knowledge.
